Who we are
The Brunswickan is an autonomous student newspaper located at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. We are Canada's oldest official student publication; we've been publishing since 1867.
It is the paper's ultimate goal to publish entertaining, informative material relevant to the student body and have fun doing it.
We at the Brunswickan strive to uphold journalistic integrity and report in a fair, unbiased and fully researched manner.
We report on campus life, student politics, happenings around the city, the local music scene, cultural events and both varsity and intramural sports.
Each year, we send delegates to both national and regional Canadian University Press conferences. As one of the founding members of CUP, we are proud of our involvement with the organization and of the knowledge our staff gains from membership.
We publish once per week during the academic year, with layout occurring on Mondays and the paper hitting the stands each Wednesday.
Operation would not be possible without our editorial board, a team of 10 highly dedicated individuals. The editorial board consists of the Editor in Chief, Managing Editor, News Editor, Arts Editor, Sports Editor, Production Editor, Photo Editor, Online Editor, Copy Editor and Ad Sales Representative.
These editors depend largely upon staff writers and an amazing volunteer base to develop sections each week. For more information on volunteering for the Brunswickan, check out our volunteer page.
Our official name is Brunswickan Publishing Inc., and we periodically take on other projects around campus as well.
